Tuckpointing Damaged by the 2014 Freeze/Thaw Cycles:
It’s been an unusually brutal winter here is St. Louis. The freeze/thaw cycles have been more aggressive and more occurring than the last 10 years. These intense changes in weather are causing quite a bit of damage throughout the brick and mortar in Saint Louis and neighboring areas.
When water or moisture enter voids, holes or cracks in masonry (Brick, Block, Stone, Mortar, etc.) the water expands and contracts during freeze/thaw cycles in the winter and spring. This time of year, damage to masonry surfaces become more apparent, both visibly from the exterior of brick and masonry homes and water entry into the home.
